Deputy head of Hamas in Gaza Khalil al-Hayya has affirmed that the Palestinian people need a national program and unified leadership in order to protect their national cause.
Hayya made the remarks during a conference on the Palestinian cause held on Saturday by the Palestinian Center for Policy Research and Strategic Studies – MASARAT.
“The pivot of the Palestinian cause is national unity” Hayya said stressing the need to develop a national vision based on partnership to deal with different issues related to politics and resistance and to rearrange the Palestinian house and end the division.
The Hamas official said that the starting point to achieve that is through holding Palestinian elections to pave the way for a transitional stage that involves the formation of an executive committee and a national program.
He also stressed that the Palestinian people need a government that responds to their needs and refuses to yield to external pressures.
He expressed his belief that the Palestinian people are capable of forcing the world to accept their national vision.
