Member of Hamas’s Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya on Saturday said that there is a real chance to end the Palestinian division due to the presence of a supportive Arab and Islamic environment.
Speaking to the sixth annual conference organized by Masarat Center for Policy Research and Strategic Studies Hayya expressed his hope that all parties will be loyal to the national partnership agreement which entails the holding of subsequent presidential and legislative elections.
The Hamas leader called for a Palestinian consensus on whether the Palestinian struggle is in a stage of national liberation or a stage of establishing a state under occupation.
Hayya affirmed that the Palestinian people are able to confront the Israeli occupation by multiple means at any of the stages they go through pointing to the presence of countries and communities advocating the rights of the Palestinian people and calling for seizing this opportunity.
He stressed the need to establish a unified national program that recognizes both resistance with all its forms and political and diplomatic work.
