Member of Hamas’s Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya affirmed on Friday his Movement’s commitment to reconciliation and looking forward to a national unity government without monopoly of power or exclusion of any party.
Hayya’s statement came during a commemoration ceremony of the 13th assassination anniversary of the late president Yasser Arafat in Gaza. The event which was staged on Thursday by the National Reconciliation Supreme Committee was attended by hundreds of Islamic and national figures and thousands of Palestinians in addition to 100 families of the victims of the internal division whose issues have been solved.
Hayya hailed Arafat’s support for resistance by funding and encouraging fighters to purchase and use weapons against Israeli occupation.
The Hamas leader praised all those who support the Palestinian reconciliation especially Egypt for following up the developments of the reconciliation issue. He thanked all of the other supporting countries including the United Arab Emirates Turkey Qatar Iran Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
