Head of the Egyptian security delegation who is in charge of the Palestinian reconciliation file Major General Sameh Nabil arrived in the Gaza Strip on Saturday afternoon.
Spokesperson for the delegation Adel Abdulrahman said in a press statement that Major General Nabil will meet with Hamas officials to discuss reconciliation.
Media sources reported that Nabil arrived in Gaza through Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing in the northern area.
The Egyptian security delegation left the Gaza Strip on 16th March two days following the alleged assassination attempt targeting the Palestinian Authority government’s premier Rami Hamdallah.
Although some media sources say that the Egyptian official is set to discuss Palestinian reconciliation others expect that the Great March of Return will be at the top of the meeting’s agenda.
In recent days several reports have been circulated about Egyptian pressures on Hamas to stop the Return protests in exchange for some offers to ease the blockade imposed on Gaza.
