Hunger striking Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawdeh continues his open-ended hunger strike on Thursday for the 42nd day in a row in protest at the Israeli policy of administrative detention.
Awawdeh is suffering joint pain dizziness irregular heartbeat breathing difficulties vomiting and dramatic weight loss according to the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs statement.
“Despite Awawdeh’s serious health conditions the Israeli prison authority deliberately deprives him of proper medical care confining him to the so-called Ramle prison clinic” the commission added condemning the deliberate medical neglect policy that Palestinian prisoners are subjected to.
Awawdeh a father of four children from the West Bank city of Khalil has been held under administrative detention since December 2021. He is an ex-prisoner and had participated in the 2012 mass hunger strike launched by the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
