Monday 10-September-2007

GAZA (PIC)– The health ministry affiliated with the caretaker government has warned of the collapse of medical services in the Gaza Strip as a result of the continuing politicized strikes organized by the Fatah faction in addition to depriving thousands of health workers from their salaries confirming that the Palestinian patient is “the only victim of the worsening health conditions.”

The ministry pointed out that 90% of the health services provided to citizens in the Gaza Strip is governmental services for patients of chronic diseases and with disabilities who need daily follow-up.

The ministry attributed the deterioration of health status in the Gaza Strip to the direct pressures practiced by the Ramallah government on the employees of health sector which threatened to cut salaries in the event they reported to duties.

It pointed out that escalating strikes in the health sector comes at a time of increasing Israeli military aggressions against the Strip which led to the killing and wounding of tens of Palestinians most of whom are in need of medical supervision by doctors.

In another serious development Saadi Al-Karanz the secretary general of Fayyad’s unconstitutional governments confessed during a hearing held days ago by the independent commission for citizens’ rights to suspending the last August salaries of nine thousand civil servants for various reasons including that some of them did not abide by the instructions of his superiors at work who are affiliated with Fayyad’s government.
