Hotovely: Israel will not withdraw to 1967 borders

Wednesday 29-March-2017

Israeli deputy foreign minister Tzipi Hotovely said Israel would never withdraw to the 1967 borders and would expand its settlements in Palestinian territories according to the Hebrew radio.

During her participation in a conference held recently in Washington to support Israel’s settlement activities Hotovely stressed the need to increase the number of Jewish settlers to one million in the West Bank.

There are about 610000 Jewish settlers living in 418 illegal settlements and outposts in the West Bank and Jerusalem where they carry out attacks against local residents almost on a daily basis.

On December 23 2016 the UN Security Council voted by an absolute majority for a historical resolution calling on Israel to halt its settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The resolution affirms that all settlements and outposts in the territories occupied in 1967 are illegal and demands Israel to respect its obligations under international law.
