Hundreds attend Friday prayer at Silwan protest tent in J’lem

Friday 27-August-2021

Hundreds of Jerusalemites attended the Friday khutba (sermon) and prayer inside and outside the sit-in tent in the east Jerusalem district of Silwan south of the Aqsa Mosque.

In his Friday khutba the preacher applauded the Silwan residents for their steadfastness in the face of the conspiracies that target them and their property and aim to undermine their resolve and fortitude.

He called on the Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem to stop its demolition policy in the holy city warning that its practices against the Jerusalemite citizens would lead to a massive popular explosion.

“Your orders are unjust and your legitimacy is invalid. Do not kill and assassinate the hope in our children’s hearts or else the explosion is coming” he said.

He affirmed that Israel’s demolitions in the holy city have no legal basis and are only driven by the logic of force and criminality expressing his confidence that the Silwan residents would stand strongly in the face of the plan to displace them from their homes.

An Israeli court recently has frozen most of the demolition orders against Palestinian homes in Silwan for a while but the same court which ordered the freeze also allowed the demolition of 16 homes to go ahead.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
