Hundreds of Palestinian citizens on Monday afternoon took part in the funeral of Nour al-Barghouti 23 who died at an Israeli prison a few days ago in Ramallah.
The funeral procession set off from Palestine Medical Complex to al-Barghouti’s family home in Aboud village in the West Bank district of Ramallah.
Israeli occupation authorities handed al-Barghouti’s body over to the Palestinian side on Sunday evening after it had been dissected at the Institute of Forensic Medicine (Abu Kabir) in Tel Aviv with the participation of a Palestinian doctor and a lawyer from the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs.
Five days ago al-Barghouti died after he fainted inside his cell at Israel’s Negev Prison and was left with no medical intervention by the prison administration for over half an hour.
The Israeli occupation authorities are currently withholding the bodies of five Palestinian detainees who died while in Israeli custody: Anis Doula from Qalqilya Aziz Oweisat from Jerusalem Fares Baroud from Gaza Nassar Taqatqa from Bethlehem and Bassam al-Sayeh from Nablus.
