The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) approved on Thursday a new settlement plan in the West Bank.
Israeli media sources affirmed that Israel’s Local Planning and Building Committee has approved the construction of 372 new housing units in Kiryat Arba illegal settlement in al-Khalil.
The declaration came in coincidence with Israeli president Isaac Herzog’s visit to the illegal settlement.
Israeli settlements are considered illegal under international law.
About 700000 Israeli Jews live in settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank and occupied East Jerusalem has continued under every Israeli government since 1967.
However construction accelerated in the last few years under former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a significant boom during Trump’s US administration which Palestinians accused of egregious pro-Israel bias.
