Hundreds of Palestinian citizens in the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories attended on Tuesday the funeral of Yaqoub Abu al-Qiaan 47 in Umm al-Hiran village in the Negev.

Abu al-Qiaan’s family received their son’s body after it was held by the Israeli authorities for a week following house demolitions in Umm al-Hiran last week during which the martyr got shot by the Israeli police.

The martyr’s wife said that her husband was killed in cold-blood for political gains.

The funeral was attended by senior Palestinian figures and leaders of Arab and Islamic parties in the 1948 occupied Palestine including Sheikh Raed Salah the leader of the Islamic Movement that was outlawed by Israel.

The Israeli police blocked all the roads leading to Hura and Umm al-Hiran villages deployed their forces intensively and tried to prevent the crowd from reaching the area to participate in the funeral.

Nisreen Abu al-Qiaan the martyr’s daughter told 48 Arabs website “We have been living in constant grief since my father was killed but now we are relieved after his body was freed so he can be buried in his final resting place.”

She delivered a message to the Arab community urging them to stand against Israel’s policy of demolition.

The Israeli High Court issued yesterday a decision by a majority of two judges to one that accepted the petition which was made by Adalah and al-Mezan centers and demanded to hand over the body of martyr Abu al-Qiaan.
