Hundreds participate in symbolic funeral for al-Hissi

Hundreds of Palestinians participated in a symbolic funeral in Gaza on Saturday for Muhammad al-Hissi the fisherman who has gone missing at sea last Wednesday after his boat was deliberately hit by an Israeli gunboat.

The funeral started from Gaza port mosque after performing absentee funeral prayer for al-Hissi 32 in the presence of Dr. Ahmad Bahar First Deputy Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council in addition to a number of representatives of Palestinian factions.

In a statement on the occasion Bahar described what happened to the fisherman al-Hissi as a fresh crime committed by Israeli criminal forces against fishermen in Gaza.

He said that the killing of al-Hissi is a new evidence of Israeli crimes committed daily against Palestinians while stressing that the Israeli leaders are fully responsible for his death.

Bahar appealed to human rights organizations as well as the Palestinian Authority to prosecute the Israeli occupation authorities at the International Criminal Court.

The funeral started from Gaza port towards the martyr’s home in Shati refugee camp passing through Omar Mukhtar Street while holding pictures and banners demanding security for fishermen in Gaza.
