Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) prevented the Adhan (call for prayer) for 645 times in al-Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil city in 2017.
The Awqaf (endowment) Ministry said in a statement on Monday that the Adhan was banned for 53 times over the past month of December.
The statement considered the Adhan ban as a violation of the sanctity of al-Ibrahimi Mosque and of the right of Palestinians to practicing their religious rituals with freedom.
The Awqaf Minister Yousef Edais warned of the serious consequences of violating the holy places and historic sites in al-Khalil.
He opined that the Adhan ban aimed at imposing the Israeli sovereignty over the holy shrines and allowing settlers to commit their offensives against the city and its Palestinian residents.
