The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has prevented the Palestinian Awqaf Ministry from completing restoration and maintenance works at the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil City.
Sheikh Hafdi Abu Sneina director of the Ibrahimi Mosque said that Israeli forces prevented workers and employees from al-Khalil Rehabilitation Committee from finishing renovation works at the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Sheikh Abu Sneina affirmed that the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs has exclusive jurisdiction over the Ibrahimi Mosque and has the right to coordinate with al-Khalil Rehabilitation Committee to renovate the Islamic holy site.
He condemned such Israeli practice as “arbitrary” and “part of attempts by the IOA and Jewish settlers to impose their control over the Ibrahimi Mosque.”
He pointed out that Israeli excavations and diggings are still ongoing in the Ibrahimi Mosque’s outer courtyards as part of several Judaization activities targeting the Islamic holy site.
