OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority on Saturday prevented Palestinian Christians from entering the Church of holy Sepulcher in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem local sources reported.
The head of the national Christian coalition Dmitiry Diliani said that the IOA police only allowed foreign tourists into the holy Church while barring eastern Christians and Palestinians from accessing the Church to celebrate Sabt Al Nour (Holy Saturday Saturday of light which comes just one day before Easter).
Diliani said that Palestinians in the vicinity of the Church clashed with the IOA policemen in a bid to break through the police barricades and enter the Church to attend the celebration.
He added that this is another Israeli assault against holy places in Palestine and another violation against the worshipers who were searched and attacked by the soldiers.
Diliani also said that Palestinian Christians do not recognize “Israel’s authority on Jerusalem” as the holy city is under Israeli occupation and the Palestinian Christians demand the international community to ensure freedom of worship in the city and to ensure Israel ends its occupation to Jerusalem and Palestine.
He added that the Palestinians will keep on the struggle until achieving their internationally guaranteed rights including the right of worship.
