OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority has blocked the travel of Sheikh Ekrema Sabri the Khatib (preacher) of the Aqsa Mosque to Jordan on Monday for alleged security reasons.
In a press statement the Sheikh said that the IOA told him he was blocked from travel for security reasons but would not elaborate.
Sabri the former Mufti of Palestine charged that the travel ban contravened personal freedom and freedom of opinion.
Palestinian national and Islamic institutions denounced the measure describing it as a “strange step” and demanding the immediate lifting of the ban.
The IOA two weeks earlier also banned the travel of Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi the chief Islamic justice in Palestine also to Jordan en route to the UAE to attend a conference in Sharjah.
