The Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) prevented a Gazan patient who has been in coma for 40 days from traveling for medical treatment in al-Khalil under security pretexts.
Israeli Walla website said that Physicians for Human Rights tried more than once over the past few weeks to transfer the young man Abdul Karim Abu Laban 32 from Gaza Strip to receive treatment in al-Khalil hospitals.
However the IOA refused the human rights organization’s demand for “security reasons” despite Abu Laban’s very critical health condition.
The sources pointed out that Physicians for Human Rights had twice submitted appeals against the Israeli decision as it violates the international law which states everybody’s right to medical care.
Physicians for Human Rights had earlier said that Israel’s escalated bans on Palestinian patients’ travel came as part of its collective punishment policy against the Palestinian people.
According to local human rights sources more than 1000 sick Palestinians in Gaza Strip are in dire need to travel for medical treatment abroad.
