The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) partially closed the Beit Hanoun (Erez) border crossing in the Gaza Strip on Sunday morning at the behest of Israeli war minister Avigdor Lieberman.
According to the Hebrew media Lieberman claimed his decision to close the crossing in northern Gaza was in response to the March of Return demonstration that was held on Friday afternoon on the Gaza border.
However the border crossing which is the only pedestrian crossing between the Gaza Strip and Israel would still be open for some medical emergencies requiring the transfer of patients to hospitals in the occupied territories.
