IOA damages house orders owners to raze it in J’lem

Wednesday 10-November-2021

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Wednesday wreaked havoc on the interior of a Palestinian house in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Wadi al-Joz and ordered its owners to demolish it at their own expense.

According to local sources police forces and municipal workers went on the rampage through the house destroying parts of its inner walls and contents.

The house belongs to Jerusalemite prisoner Mahmoud Jaber whose family started to furnish it recently to make it ready ahead of his wedding that is slated to be held following his release.

The prisoner’s mother Aida Jaber said that the Israeli police gave her until next Saturday to demolish the house at her own expense and threatened to fine her 100000 shekels if she failed to comply with the measure.

On Tuesday the Israeli occupation authority forced a Jerusalemite citizen called Aziz Owaisat to demolish his own house and ordered another citizen to carry out the same measure against his house in Jabel Mukaber town.

The majority of Jerusalemite citizens had to comply with such Israeli demolition orders to avoid paying exorbitant money to the IOA.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers and for that reason they are denied house permits.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
