The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Monday approved a new settlement plan in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem.
The plan aims at constructing a 12-story building that includes 135 settlement units in order to expand the illegal settlement of Ma’alot Dafna established on Palestinian-owned lands in Sheikh Jarrah.
The settlement project will be built on an area of 2110 square meters after the demolition of a 5-story building that includes 26 settlement units in addition to constructing an underground synagogue and car park.
Ma’alot Dafna settlement was originally established on 389 dunums of Palestinian lands that were confiscated in 1968 east of Occupied Jerusalem.
