IOA displaces Jerusalemite family after razing its home in Silwan

Wednesday 3-August-2022

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) displaced on Wednesday a Palestinian family after demolishing its home in the east Jerusalem district of Silwan at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

According to local sources Israeli police troops escorting a municipal crew stormed the area where the house of Hazem Abu Sneineh is located before bulldozers embarked on knocking it down.

Police forces reportedly assaulted members of the Abu Sneineh family and arrested two of them along with a neighbor for trying to stop the demolition.

The demolition measure took place without allowing the family to remove the furniture and personal belongings from the house which was built about 15 years ago eyewitnesses said.

The measure led to the displacement of eight individuals including children.

Meanwhile the IOA demolished on the same day two agricultural structures and bulldozed swaths of land belonging to local residents in an area between az-Za’im village and Rawabi al-Issawiya area in east Jerusalem.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Occupied Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in east Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
