IOA displaces family razes stores in O. Jerusalem

Wednesday 3-November-2021

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) in east Jerusalem on Wednesday demolished a Palestinian house in Jabel Mukaber district and commercial facilities in Hizma town at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

According to local sources bulldozers escorted by police forces demolished a one-story house in the morning in as-Sal’ah area in Jabel Mukaber belonging to Mohamed Harroub and displaced his family.

The sources affirmed that the family had obtained a court order stopping the Israeli municipality from demolishing the house but its crew came and carried out the measure without prior notice.

The house which was built 11 years ago contained two apartments and its demolition rendered eight individuals of the family homeless.

In the northeast of Jerusalem a large number of police forces stormed at dawn an area in Hizma town near a military checkpoint and razed multiple stores belonging to the family of al-Khateeb.

Local sources said that the Israeli municipality demolished the stores without informing the family in advance.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to their construction needs and the natural increase in their numbers and for that reason they are denied permits.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes and structures in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
