The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) extended on Monday travel ban orders against Jerusalemite activists Nihad Zighayer and Nasser al-Hadmi.
According to local sources in the holy city the IOA extended the travel ban on Zighayer for another month and threatened to prohibit his travel abroad for an additional six months later.
Zighayer was arrested on June 5 2017 upon his return to the homeland from Saudi Arabia where he performed the Umrah rituals.
At the time IOA accused him of being active in what it called the “Aqsa Mosque Youth” group and extracted a court verdict ordering his imprisonment for 35 months.
After completing his jail term the IOA delayed his release for several days and then decided to release him last May but later he was exposed to ongoing persecution by the Israeli police.
Following his release he was also banished from Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque and later banned from traveling for nine months.
Zighayer works as a guide for the Jerusalemite pilgrims who visit Makkah in Saudi Arabia and is considered one of the active and influential Palestinian figures in Jerusalem.
The IOA also summoned on Monday Nasser al-Hadmi head of the Jerusalemite Committee Against Judaization and handed him an order banning his travel for one month with a possibility of extending the ban for an additional six months.
Last June Hadmi received a notice from the Israeli police preventing his travel for one extendable month.
He has been prohibited from traveling abroad for about four years because of his prominent role in protecting the holy city against Judaization.
The IOA also decided last August to impose renewed restrictions on Hadmi’s movement and contacts in the holy city.
According to that decision Hadmi was banished from east Jerusalem and banned from contacting certain Jerusalemite figures for six months.
