The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Wednesday forced a Palestinian family to demolish three houses belonging to it in Wadi Qaddum neighborhood in the east Jerusalem district of Silwan south of the Aqsa Mosque.
According to local sources the family hired a bulldozer to knock down the houses to avoid paying exorbitant money to the Israeli municipality.
Mohamed Nassar one of the owners said that his father had bought the land these houses were built on about 40 years ago but the Israeli municipality claims that this land is stolen public property adding that his family had been persecuted for long years under such flimsy pretext.
He added that his family received a demolition and evacuation notice from the municipality which threatened to make it pay 80000 shekels if it failed to comply with the order.
