The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) forced on Friday a Jerusalemite family to demolish part of their home in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood in Silwan town under the pretext of building without a permit.
Local sources reported that the IOA forced the Jerusalemite citizen Hatem al-Salaymeh to raze part of his house which he had lived in for 20 years along with his wife and three children.
The IOA threatened Salaymeh to demolish the entire house if he refuses to raze this part of his house. Salaymeh has been paying an annual fine of 70000 shekels for this part for the past 20 years.
“The IOA forces us to demolish this part of our house with our own hands or else it will demolish the whole house” al-Salaymah said.
Jerusalemites are forced to demolish their homes with their own hands to avoid incurring exorbitant demolition expenses and fines imposed by the occupation municipality.
The demolitions come under the pretext of unlicensed construction while in fact they are meant to prevent the natural growth of Palestinians harass them and confiscate their lands to Judaize the Holy City and impose full control on the land.
