IOA forces Jerusalemite to raze his own property

Monday 30-August-2021

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Sunday evening forced a Jerusalemite citizen to demolish two structures in Jabel Mukaber neighborhood southeast of Jerusalem at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

Oqab Jaabis the property owner had to knock down a container and a room in the neighborhood with his own hands in order to avoid paying exorbitant demolition expenses to the Israeli municipality according to local sources.

In another incident the Israeli municipality on Monday demolished a house belonging to a Jerusalemite citizen in the same neighborhood.

Local sources said that an Israeli bulldozer escorted by police forces razed a house belonging to Ahmed Mashahera.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers and for that reason they are denied house permits.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
