Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) on Friday forced a Palestinian citizen to demolish his own house in Silwan town in Jerusalem.
Local sources said that based on an IOA order Ehab Aqil had to demolish his home to avoid heavy fines or jail time.
Palestinian activist Naser al-Hadmi head of a Jerusalem committee against Judaization said that the IOA is pursuing a systematic policy against the Palestinian residents of Jerusalem which includes house demolitions high taxes bans from al-Aqsa Mosque and movement restrictions to pressure them to leave the city.
Al-Hadmi said that these US-backed practices have seen an alarming rise recently especially home demolitions.
A report issued by the media office of Hamas Movement pointed out that the IOA demolished 18 Palestinian homes and 104 other facilities mainly shops stores and agricultural structures in July 2020.
Since the occupation of the city in 1967 over 1900 Palestinian homes have been demolished in Jerusalem.
