The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) forced two Palestinian brothers to demolish their homes on Monday in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber.
According to local sources the Israeli municipality forced two brothers from the family of Shekirat to demolish their homes at the pretext of unlicensed construction although they paid around 100000 shekels in penalties.
The brothers had lived in those houses with their wives and kids since 2012.
They said in press remarks that the Israeli municipality in the holy city had refused to give them permits and they tried to license their homes but to no avail.
They added that an Israeli court had issued a verdict recently ordering them to demolish their homes at their own expense to avoid paying the municipality exorbitant money if it carried out the measure.
On Sunday Palestinian homeowners and activists rallied outside the building of the municipality in Occupied Jerusalem to protest what they described as “the carnage of demolition and displacement” in the Palestinian neighborhoods of the holy city.
In another incident the Israeli occupation forces notified citizens on the same day of its intent to demolish two homes and two residential rooms and photographed other structures in Masafer Yatta in the south of al-Khalil.
