IOA imposes new restrictions on travel of Palestinians via Erez

Thursday 9-November-2017

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has imposed new restrictions on the travel of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip through the Beit Hanun (Erez) crossing en route to the West Bank or Jordan.

According to the Israeli daily Haaretz Palestinians attempting to obtain exit permits from Gaza via the Israeli-run Erez crossing point have been made to endure weeks on weeks of delays.

Palestinians wait for up to 70 days to receive replies over their applications for permits to gain access into the West Bank or Jordan among other destinations while they used to receive replies within two weeks added Haaretz.

Israel’s blockade on the Gaza Strip has entered its 11th consecutive year leaving nearly two million Palestinians locked up in the world’s “largest open-air prison.”
