Israeli Occupation Authorities (IOA) issued administrative detention orders against 64 Palestinian prisoners the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said on Tuesday.
The PPS said Israeli authorities issued a six-month administrative detention order against Feda Da’amas a 24-year-old woman from al-Khalil under the pretext of incitement.
Da’amas was physically assaulted during her arrest on May 29.
31 orders were issued against Palestinian detainees for the first time or against ex-detainees who were re-detained after being released. The rest had their administrative detention renewed the sources clarified.
450 Palestinians are currently held under Israel’s internationally condemned policy of administrative detention.
Administrative detention is the imprisonment of Palestinians without charge or trial at orders from a military commander and on the basis of secret evidence. The order normally goes for six-month periods indefinitely renewable by Israeli military authorities.
