IOA plans construction of 11000 housing units in occupied Jerusalem

Wednesday 28-February-2007

NAZARETH (PIC)– Israeli government sources revealed on Wednesday that a secret plan was currently being prepared to construct a colony of 11000 units for the ultra-orthodox Jews in occupied Jerusalem.

The new colony would be located near the densely populated Palestinian Qalandia refugee camp north of occupied Jerusalem and would envisage digging a tunnel under the Palestinian village of Kufr Akab to link the new colony with Israeli settlements established outside the racist separation wall.

Hebrew press reports said that if approved the colony would be the largest building project in Jerusalem since 1967 when the holy city was occupied by Israel.

The reports revealed that Otniel Schneller (Kadima party MP) is the one coordinating the establishment of this new colonialist scheme.

Schneller who is the former head of the Yesha council of West Bank settlers told Hebrew daily Ha’aretz that the Jerusalem (Jewish) municipality was “happy about the idea”.
