IOA puts two Hamas senior political leaders under administrative detention

Friday 27-March-2009

NABLUS (PIC)– Two senior Hamas political leaders Dr. Naser Al-Dein Al-Shaer and Adnan Asfour were put under administrative detention for six months after they were kidnapped by the IOF troops in the West Bank last week.

According to Palestinian lawyer Faris Abu Hassan the Israeli military prosecutor decided on Thursday to put the two Hamas senior leaders under administrative detention without any legal basis.

The IOF troops launched frenzied arrest campaigns against Hamas figures in the West Bank after the prisoners’ swap deal with the Palestinian resistance failed due to the Israeli stubbornness with the aim to pressure Hamas to soften its conditions which the Movement vowed not to do under any circumstances.

In the 1948-occupied Palestinian lands the Israeli central court sentenced two Palestinian students Anees Jamil Saffouri and Husam Khaled Khalil to 14 years and two years in jail respectively. Both students hail from the Palestinian city of Shafa Amre.

According to Israeli sources Saffouri was accused of being member of the Islamic Jihad Movement and of illegally possessing firearms to use them against the Israeli occupation soldiers.

Khalil was accused of contacting a cell that planned attacks on Israeli targets according to the Israeli allegations.
