The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) at dawn Monday demolished several Palestinian commercial facilities in Hizma town northeast of Jerusalem with no prior notice.
Former Hizma mayor Musallam Abu Helu said that Israeli bulldozers escorted by police forces stormed Hizma through its southwestern entrance and embarked on reducing 10 commercial facilities to rubble at the pretext of unlicensed construction.
The stores included a gas station stores for selling car accessories and auto repair shops. Seven of these stores belonged to a local resident from Hizma called Saad al-Khatib.
The demolition measure took place suddenly at dawn without the Israeli municipality informing the owners in advance of its intent to demolish their stores.
“These stores were the main source of livelihood for Hizma residents who live under virtual siege and cannot enter for work the 1948 occupied territory” Abu Helu said.
Over one month ago 16 stores in Hizma town had also been demolished by the IOA.
