IOA razes Palestinian-owned structures in Issawiya

Wednesday 7-April-2021

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Wednesday demolished a number of structures belonging to Palestinian citizens in the east Jerusalem district of Issawiya at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

Jameel Abul-Hems a local resident said that Israeli municipal crews knocked down buildings in the areas of az-Zaroura and Habayel al-Arab in Issawiya belonging to him and two other citizens

He explained that the IOA demolished two auto parts stores belonging to him as well as a garage and two rooms belonging to citizens he identified as Majed al-Mazraawi and Darwish Darwish.

Palestinians in east Jerusalem are forced to build without licenses due to the Israeli municipality’s refusal to grant them building permits or approve zoning plans for their areas.

Issawiya is one of many Palestinian areas in east Jerusalem that are facing home demolitions and displacement campaigns as part of Israel’s frenzied Judaization activities in the holy city.
