Shaheen Marei brother of the Jordanian prisoner in the Israeli jail Muneer Marei said that he and his sisters were unable to visit Muneer on Wednesday as agreed after the Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) broke the promise of an open visit.
He added that the IOA refused the visit to be open and without barriers in contrast to an earlier agreement with the Jordanian prisoners in Israeli jails who went on hunger strike in 2013 to demand family visits without glass separator and for two hours.
Shaheen added that they were surprised as they arrived that their request of having a two-hour open visit and allowing clothes and personal supplies was refused which made Muneer refuse to come to the visit in a protest against the decision.
He said that his family members intend to stage an open-ended sit-in and hunger strike in front of the Jordanian Foreign Ministry in Amman if they were not able to see Muneer.
Shaheen furthermore said that the Jordanian embassy in Israel did not send any delegate to receive them at the crossing or any representative to meet them at the prison.
