OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has reinstated a military order issued in 1967 that prohibits demonstrations in the occupied Palestinian lands and imposes a ten-year imprisonment term and/or a hefty fine on violators.
The Israeli information center for human rights in the occupied territories B’Tselem which reported the news on Wednesday also said that the Israeli army had changed its rules of dealing with the demonstrations as it arrested the organizers and violently dispersed them in addition to deporting foreign activists taking part in those rallies.
The IOA re-established the military order 101 that organized demonstrations in the occupied lands the center said explaining that it demands organizers of any activity grouping more than ten people to obtain a prior permit from the commander of the region.
B’Tselem described the measure as a violation of the international law that allows freedom of expression in occupied lands.
