IOA releases MP Samira Halaiqa

Tuesday 9-May-2017

The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) decided on Tuesday to release the Palestinian MP Samira Halaiqa after two months of detention.

The military court in Ofer prison turned down an appeal filed by the Israeli military prosecution against releasing Halaiqa with a 20-thousand-shekel bail.

Mohammed Halaiqa Samira’s husband said that his wife is unlikely to be transferred to administrative detention especially after the bail was paid adding that the judges affirmed that the indictment filed against her is weak.

He pointed out that the IOA transferred his wife to Damon prison two days ago and that she is expected to be dropped at al-Jalama checkpoint once released sometime in the evening.

The Israeli occupation forces arrested MP Samira Halaiqa after raiding her house in al-Shuyukh town in al-Khalil on 9th March 2017.
