Saturday 16-December-2006

Al-Khalil (PIC)- The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Friday released the Palestinian MP Hatem Kufaisha Al-Khalil district after two years in detention without trial or charge.

Kufaisha 40 told reporters after his release that he suffered numerous health problems while in captivity including hypertension and diabetes charging the IOA with denying him proper medical treatment. He said that he was not allowed to be checked in hospital.

The MP whose administrative detention in occupation jails was renewed for nine times said that the conditions of Palestinian sick inmates were worsening due to the absence of the minimum requirements of health services in the Israeli dungeons.

Kufaisha who was arrested on 2nd January 2005 and was elected as deputy in the PLC during his detention said that he carried a message from prisoners of all factions to the Palestinians mainly to resort to reason and to put national interests above any factional interests and to taboo the shedding of Palestinian blood.

The lawmaker underlined that he would promptly join his work as a PLC member asserting the importance of reactivating the role of the PLC in its capacity as the highest constitutional institution that should lay down solutions to preserve the security of the street that elected it.

Kufaisha was among the 30 deputies kidnapped by the IOF troops atop of whom is the PLC speaker Dr. Aziz Al-Duwaik. He was frequently arrested by the IOF soldiers and spent more than 90 months in occupation jails under administrative detention and was among those who were deported to south Lebanon in 1991.
