IOA releases Palestinian prisoner after paralyzing him

Saturday 12-May-2007

TULKARM (PIC)– The IOA released the Palestinian young man Luay Ashqar after 26 months detention and severe torture at the hands of Israeli intelligence interrogators that left one of his legs paralyzed.

Ashqar 28 explained on arrival in Tulkarm on Friday that Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli jails were living very difficult and harsh conditions due to the arbitrary and inhuman practices by the Israeli prisons administrations.

He underlined that he was subjected to cruel torture rounds at the hands of Israeli intelligence agents in the Jalama detention camp which led to paralyzing his left leg.

The ex-detainee also appealed to legal and medical institutions to provide the necessary medical care for him pointing out that he was suffering a lot after his paralysis.

Ashqar was kidnapped during an Israeli military incursion in the Saida town north of Tulkarm on 22/4/2005 at the pretext of providing assistance to the Palestinian resistance fighters a charge that was never validated.
