The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) renewed the administrative detention of the Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawdeh for four additional months only three days before the end of his current administrative detention order.
Earlier on Tuesday Awawdeh had suspended his open hunger strike which lasted 111 days in rejection of his administrative detention after promises to end his detention.
However the IOA went back on the deal and renewed his administrative detention.
Awawdeh a father of four was arrested more than once most recently was in 2021 where he was held in administrative detention without charge or trial.
Administrative detention is incarceration without trial or charge alleging that a person plans to commit a future offense. It has no time limit and the evidence on which it is based is not disclosed.
4600 Palestinian prisoners are held in Israeli jails including 31 female prisoners 172 children 682 administrative detainees and 500 sick prisoners.
