IOA threatens to displace Rajabi family raze their homes in J’lem

Sunday 28-November-2021

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) in east Jerusalem has notified al-Rajabi family of its intent to demolish their apartment building in Ein al-Luza neighborhood in Silwan district at the pretext of unlicensed construction.

The members of the family now live in constant fear of displacement because they expect the demolition of their homes within a few days after the Israeli municipality ordered them to evacuate the building.

30 individuals from the family live in this building which consists of two floors and is located between the neighborhoods of al-Bustan and Ein al-Hilweh in Silwan.

The Jerusalemites have no choice but to build without licenses because there are no structural maps that respond to the natural increase in their numbers and for that reason they are denied house permits.

The IOA also imposes building restrictions on the Palestinian natives in Jerusalem and makes it hard for them to obtain construction licenses.

Israel’s systematic demolition of Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem is believed to be aimed at psychologically destroying the Jerusalemite families in an attempt to force them to move from the holy city.
