IOA to demolish part of the Aqsa Mosque

Sunday 4-February-2007

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) is expected to start demolishing two rooms in the holy Aqsa Mosque and the Maghareba gate road which is one of the Mosque’s historical gates in line with the IOA plan to demolish the entire holy shrine and build the alleged temple in its place.

Sheikh Ra’ed Salah the leader of the Islamic Movement in the Palestinian lands occupied in 1948 had revealed the Israeli scheme two days ago and provided the press with documents and maps to support his disclosure.

Sheikh Salah said that flattening the two rooms beneath the western wall of the Aqsa would make the Buraq Mosque there open before possible aggressors.

He recalled that the IOA repeatedly refused to allow the maintenance of the Maghareba road and was currently preparing to install a new bridge instead of the historical one.

The Aqsa foundation catering for Islamic holy shrines in Palestine appealed to all Palestinians in the 1948 lands to head to the Aqsa compound and to picket in front of the site threatened with destruction.

The foundation in a statement urged the Arab and Islamic countries to swiftly act to stop the “Zionist crime”.

For his part Sheikh Ekrema Sabri the head of the higher Islamic authority in Jerusalem called on all Palestinian citizens in Jerusalem and its environs to be present in the Aqsa plazas to confront any “Zionist attacks”.

He held the IOA fully responsible for the repeated aggressions on the Aqsa its installations and environs.

The worshippers would defend and sacrifice all for the sake of defending the holy site Sabri affirmed charging that the scheme was planned two years ago and that the IOA was waiting for the opportune moment for its implementation.
