IOA transfers MP Beitawi to Ramla prison hospital after health deterioration

NABLUS (PIC)– Detained MP Sheikh Hamed Al-Beitawi was rushed to the Ramla prison hospital after his health deteriorated during interrogation at the Israeli Jalama detention center.

Sheikh Beitawi the MP on the Hamas change and reform bloc in the PLC was kidnapped on the 24th of May during a wave of IOF kidnapping of PA ministers MPs and municipal heads and members in the West Bank. He had been previously arrested by the IOF troops twice and deported to Marj Al-Zuhur in southern Lebanon in 1992.

Sheikh Beitawi the former head of Palestine Scholars League suffers from many illnesses especially diabetes and heart disease and needs special health care on a daily basis. The IOA barred him from traveling to Jordan for treatment two months ago.

In a press release his family revealed that Beitawi 63 suffered a sharp rise in the blood sugar level threatening his retina kidneys and limbs. Two of his toes were amputated a few months ago as a result of the repercussions of diabetes his family said; warning that the entire foot was now in danger due to medical neglect in occupation jails.

Beitawi needs special daily medical supervision in order to control the level of sugar in his blood and to follow up his heart condition. He also takes more than 10 types of medications daily.

His family held the IOA fully responsible for his health deterioration and safety appealing to human rights agencies to intervene to save his life.
