The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Wednesday suppressed Palestinian citizens participating in a protest sit-in near the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil City while extremist Jewish settlers assaulted other citizens inside nearby commercial stores.
According to local sources the IOF quelled a peaceful rally staged by local residents in protest at a new Judaization project targeting the Ibrahimi Mosque.
Dozens of protesters reportedly suffered from their exposure to tear gas fired by the IOF during clashes near the Mosque.
Meanwhile a horde of settlers under military protection assaulted and harassed several citizens who were inside stores near the Ibrahimi Mosque.
The IOF also kidnaped three citizens including a young woman near the Mosque following the assaults on local residents by soldiers and settlers.
The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) recently started to carry out a major Judaization project at the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil which includes the construction of corridors and the installation of an elevator to facilitate entry of Jewish settlers to the Islamic holy site.
According to local sources the IOA seized approximately 300 square meters of the Mosque’s courtyards and premises in order to carry out the project.
