IOF arrests 5 Palestinians in pre-dawn raids

Thursday 5-January-2017

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested at dawn Thursday five Palestinians during a violent raid and search campaign throughout the West Bank.

IOF claimed in a statement issued early today that five “wanted” Palestinians were detained for being allegedly involved in anti-occupation attacks.

The statement said that the detainees include two activists in Hamas Movement from Jenin and three others from Tubas.

The PIC reporter affirmed that three youths were kidnapped from their houses in Tubas and the nearby Tamun town.

A violent search campaign was carried out during the raid while a military checkpoint was erected at the entrance to Tamun town the sources added.

The Israeli sources claimed that large amounts of money were found after breaking into different homes in al-Khalil.

Similar raids were also carried out near Bethlehem while no arrests were reported.

Meanwhile several Israeli patrols stormed Madama town south of Nablus and erected a number of checkpoints throughout it.

The Israeli army frequently carries out sweeping arrest campaigns in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem that ostensibly target “wanted” Palestinians.

Over 7000 Palestinian prisoners are currently held in Israeli prisons according to the Palestinian rights groups.
