IOF arrests 5 students and others in West Bank and Jerusalem

The Israeli occupation army announced on Monday evening that five students were arrested from Birzeit University in Ramallah in the central West Bank for allegedly smuggling money for Hamas.

The occupation army claimed that it and the Shin Bet security agency had seized “a Hamas network that established a line to smuggle money from Turkey through credit cards transferred from Gaza to Ramallah to finance terrorist activities”.

A spokesman for the occupation army claimed that the five students were activists from the Islamic bloc which is affiliated with Hamas at the university. “The students were in contact with senior Hamas officials in Turkey to transfer funds through the Gaza Strip and then to Ramallah” according to the Israeli official.

The occupation army claimed that a number of detainees confessed to carrying out shootings against settlers and army forces in the area.

In Occupied Jerusalem the Israeli police summoned Thaer Abu Sobeih to interview its intelligence agency after raiding his house in the Old City searching it and tampering with its contents.

The Israeli police fired tear gas canisters and sound bombs at the homes of the Palestinians in Copts neighborhood in al-Ram north of Jerusalem.

In Ramallah the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrested Majd Al-Khawaja 27 Ahmed Wael Afana 25 from Ramallah and Ashraf al-Rum 29 from Qaddoura refugee camp.

Clashes erupted between Palestinians and the IOF soldiers who stormed the al-Masyoun neighborhood in Ramallah without any injuries reported.

IOF closed on Tuesday the iron gate at the east entrance to Ein Yabroud town northeast of Ramallah.

Local sources reported that the closure caused a traffic jam and obstructed the movement of citizens arriving and departing to and from Ramallah.

In Nablus an Israeli force stormed Beit Furik town east of Nablus and raided the house of Yusef Hanani and searched it.

IOF arrested the released prisoner Naseem Musa Al-Jada after raiding and searching his home in the eastern neighborhood of the town.

In Jenin IOF arrested Ali Muhannad Marzouq from Jenin while he was passing through a military checkpoint near Jericho. Tariq Ziyad al-Jamal was arrested at the Dothan checkpoint near Jenin.

IOF soldiers fired on Monday night tear gas canisters and stun grenades at the Palestinians near the annexation wall which was built on the lands of Rummana village. Several Palestinian workers suffered breathing difficulty.

IOF raided the towns of Silat al-Dhahr Qabatiya and Musaleya and launched a combing campaign.

In al-Khalil IOF broke into Dhahiriya town south of al-Khalil and raided a workshop. The IOF soldiers tampered with its contents and seized some equipment before withdrawing.

IOF searched the homes of Makram Essam Abu Allan and Hisham Badr Abu Allan and tampered with their contents.

Local sources pointed out that the raid was accompanied by the firing of stun grenades and tear gas towards citizens’ homes.

IOF soldiers arrested the 16-year-old child Anas Ahmed Abu Shusha from al-Arroub refugee camp in al-Khalil.
