IOF arrests 9 Palestinians in West Bank raids

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested at dawn Wednesday nine Palestinian citizens during fresh raid campaigns across West Bank. A journalist was among the detainees.

Israeli Army said in a statement issued early today that nine Palestinians were arrested and taken for investigation for being allegedly involved in anti-occupation activities.

The statement claimed that weapons were found during the pre-dawn raids in al-Khalil.

In Nablus two Palestinians were arrested including the journalist Mohamed Anwer who works as the director of Hawa Nablus radio station and a reporter for Quds Press.

Anwer is the fifth journalist to be detained this week. Four other Palestinian journalists working for Al-Quds TV which was ordered shut down on July 9 were detained on Monday during raids at their homes in Ramallah.

This brings the total number of Palestinian journalists held by Israel to 30 according to the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission.

Overnight raids were reported in different areas of the city.

In Ramallah a Palestinian young man as rounded up after IOF violently broke into Beit Rima town to the north of the city. Clashes erupted following the raid.

Meanwhile injuries were reported as clashes broke out in the southern part of al-Khalil city while four arrests were carried out.
