Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Monday arrested a Palestinian cancer patient at the Beit Hanoun (Erez) border crossing in the northern Gaza Strip while he was leaving the Strip for treatment in Occupied Jerusalem.
Abdel Nasser Farwana the head of the studies and documentation unit at the Prisoners and Ex-prisoners Affairs Authority told the Anadolu news agency that the IOF arrested a 35-year-old citizen a resident of Khan Younis south of the Strip.
Farwana added that the Palestinian citizen was arrested while he was passing through the Beit Hanoun border crossing for treatment in Jerusalem hospitals.
The number of citizens who were arrested by IOF at the Beit Hanoun border crossing since the beginning of the current year has risen to 10.
Farwana pointed out that IOF soldiers have turned the crossing into a trap for arresting detaining and interrogating and blackmailing Gazan citizens exploiting their need for travel.
Beit Hanoun border crossing is located in the northern Gaza Strip on the borders of Beit Hanoun city and is designated for people’s transport between Gaza and the West Bank and the rest of the occupied territories.
The Israeli occupation authorities do not allow all Palestinians to move freely through the crossing but according to conditions and specifics and after obtaining security approval.
