IOF bans thousands from praying at 3rd holiest site in Islam

Friday 16-June-2017

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Friday intensified presence across Jerusalem city and prevented thousands of Muslim youth from reaching holy al-Aqsa Mosque turning the city into a military barracks on the third week of Ramadan.

Reporting from Occupied Jerusalem a PIC news correspondent said the Israeli forces denied Palestinian youth access into the city to perform Friday prayers at al-Aqsa Mosque.

Fistfights and confrontations burst out at the Qalandiya checkpoint after the occupation forces barred the Muslim youth from reaching al-Aqsa.

Israeli border guards turned the holy city into a military barracks and cordoned off the main access roads out of and into the Old City in an attempt to tighten grip around Palestinians’ neck.

Those aged below 40 years old and children above 12 years old were systematically barred from praying at al-Aqsa Mosque. As a result dozens of Muslim young men have been forced to climb the high apartheid wall in order to pray at the site.

Thousands however continue to flock to Occupied Jerusalem to perform Friday prayer at al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam.
