Thursday 1-March-2007

NAZARETH (PIC)– A 12-year-old Palestinian girl was shot in the head Wednesday while herding sheep near an IOF military base in the Negeve desert occupied in 1948 according to local sources.

The sources said that the girl was apparently hit with bullets fired from a nearby military camp and added that she was taken to Soroka hospital in Beer Sheba suffering very serious wounds.

Israeli sources said that police were investigating the incident while the army would have an independent probe.

Meanwhile IOF troops kidnapped 19 Palestinians in the West Bank at dawn Thursday for alleged affiliation with resistance factions.

In Jenin the IOF units came under gunfire attack but no casualties were sustained according to an IOF spokesman.

He added that three Islamic Jihad activists were rounded up in Far’a refugee camp in Jenin city.

In the Gaza Strip the Israeli army fired a missile Thursday morning targeting a group of resistance fighters to the northeast of Beit Hanun.

Locals reported that the missile targeted a launching pad and that the attack did not inflict any casualties or damage.
